"Bouthan" came to this house at 8
This house at Jorasanko, Kolkata known to the world as 'Thakurbari' - paternal house of Rabindranath Tagore, the famous Nobel-winner poet. Kadambari Devi, wife of Tagore's elder brother - Jyotirindranath Tagore, - came as a new bride only at the age of 8. She was a charming lady and influenced the life of Rabindranath with love and affection. She was the 'Bouthan' of her beloved and playmate 'Robi'. 5th July Kadambari Devi's birth & marriage anniversary. After marriage she came to this house and lived on the roof top room with her husband. She used to sing, gossip and inspired the young poet with her pleasant presence affectionate behaviour. They often spent hours at the roof top as her husband was usually busy with his business. Hence, the young poet was her solitary companion. To the young poet, " Bouthan" was his friend philosopher & guide.
